Eat and Drink

Melbourne is known for being the culinary capital of the country. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a single suburb that isn’t littered with world-class restaurants, cafes and bars. However, as wonderful as all the choice can be, it can also be incredibly overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of the must-visit restaurants and bars Melbourne has to offer.

The Central Business District

At night, Melbourne’s CBD turns from a drab office space to a lively and vibrant hub of trendy eating and drinking hotspots. Some foodie favourites are located just a short walk from the venue, which means you should definitely try to check them out when you’re wanting to unwind after a long day at the conference:

  • Cookie: If you’re looking for incredibly delicious Thai food accompanied with an iconic ambience that can only be described as a ‘Melbourne atmosphere’, Cookie is the place for you. Part beerhall, part nightspot, Cookie is located on Swanston Street, just down the road from RMIT, making it the perfect spot to pop into for a bit to eat.
  • Chin Chin: As one of Melbourne’s most iconic restaurants, you’ll be lucky to get a seat at Chin Chin without having to queue for it first. But trust us, the food is definitely worth it. Offering scrumptious modern Asian food, Chin Chin is just a short walk away from RMIT along Flinders Lane.
  • Chinatown: If you’re looking for something affordable, quick and delicious, Chinatown is the place to be. Located along the famous strip of Little Bourke Street, you’ll be overwhelmed by all the delicious sights and smells. The good thing is, no matter which restaurant you end up choosing, you can guarantee that it will be absolutely delectable.

Lygon Street, Carlton

Melbourne has a vibrant Italian community, so if you want to experience some authentic Italian food, the best place to go is Lygon Street in Carlton. Here you can savour some of the best pizza and pasta you’ll ever eat outside of Italy.

We recommend Scopri, D.O.C., and Trotters.
